The  CPT  or  Common Proficiency Test  is the first level of  Chartered Accountancy  examinations in  India . Eligibility A person can register for CPT after completing Grade 10 and take the exam after completing High School (Grade 12). Test model It is an objective type examination and consists of 200 multiple choice questions. CPT covers four basic subjects divided into two sections viz. 1. Accounting  (60 Marks) +  Mercantile Laws  (40 Marks) 2. Economics  (50 Marks) +  Quantitative Aptitude  (50 Marks). Every incorrect answer on the CPT exam carries a 0.25 negative mark. A candidate is required to secure a minimum of 30 per cent marks in each Section and a minimum of 50 per cent marks in aggregate, in all the four Sections to pass the Common Proficiency Test.

Can we get Chartered accountancy after taking commerce without maths

it is possible but you will find CPT maths really tough if you skip it in your 11th and 12th. Stuff like limits, derivatives, integration, probability and all will be completely new  to you and then to grasp it all in a period of 2 to 2.5 months after your 12th and before your CPT, along with accounts, law and eco will be very difficult. It is not impossible but knowing maths helps a lot in CPT. You will be eligible to give CPT irrespective of you taking maths in 11th and 12th. Maths will almost completely disappear for IPCC but it will come back in FM for CA final. When I gave my CPT (2009), getting a 100 out of 200 was enough to clear the exam but now I think they have added a specific pass percentage for individual subjects (I am not very sure about this, will have to check). So you will have to learn the same Maths 2 years later in a period of 2 months so its better if you work hard for 2 years  (slow and steady) and then not face any problem in pursuing CA.
